Ah.... what can I really say about this game? It has so many issues, being a product by Hi-Rez, and yet every dysfunctional bit of it makes me so happy. I cant even play Ranked because the matchmaking is so broken I’d get my ass handed to me. And yet, here I am, playing nearly every single day.
I guess it’s just because I feel it offers so much more in the way of individuality than other games in its genre (I’m looking at you, Overwatch!!!) in that you can customize each champion via Loadouts and Talents to better suit your play style. You can turn a base support champion into a flank or damage if you pick your cards right. You aren’t forced to learn how to play a character exactly as the game intends you to and to fill a role; you define what you want your role to be. I love watching pros play and using their play style to adapt my own, taking inspiration from how they play a champion that’s different than I would have done it.
My biggest goal is to try to somewhat master each champion despite some of them being incredibly difficult to me, as each offers their own unique assets and skills. Ever since I branched our from just playing the same 3 characters all the time I began to appreciate the game even more. I was able to learn how to better counter other players by learning their abilities through my own playing. I think it’s really cool to learn all of the ways to manipulate a character, and because there’s so much variation you never really know what to expect from other players. It never gets too boring or repetitive even if you play against the same champions each match because everyone plays differently.
Listen. I know you need healing. Your supports... they know you need healing. I know you only play Flank, and therefore have no idea how healing works. I get it. But if you are halfway across the map by yourself while the entire rest of the team is struggling to hold the objective, you are asking quite for a lot. I do not care if you get top flank or not. I care about winning the fucking match. So I am sure you’re doing an incredible job, Skye, but I have priorities.
